Muir-Hanna Vineyards is a vineyard and winery in California’s famed Napa Valley, owned and operated by the direct descendants of John
Muir, one of America’s most famous naturalists and conservationists.
John Muir and his in-laws, the Strentzels, were also grape growers. True
to our legacy, we practice sustainable agriculture in every phase of
our operation and celebrate with every vintage the respect and connection
that John Muir had with the glories of nature.
A glass of Muir-Hanna
wine is a taste of five generations of commitment to the beauty of the
world around us.

2009 Harvest Notes
August 24, 2009
Harvest began early for us this year as we sold most of our pinot noir to Mumm for champagne. They pick at lower sugars than for still wine so the fruit came off on Tuesday, August 18. As I recall, that is pretty much in the middle of our harvest dates when we sold to Chandon from 1976 to 1990. More >
John Muir Hanna vineyard is the only one still in Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that was in the 1973 vintage that won the "Judgement of Paris", or the 1976 Paris Tasting put on by Steven Spurrier. The movie "Bottle Shock" is centered around that event but not faithful to the actual facts.
